The most brutal night on the WWE calendar is almost here. The eyes of the WWE Universe are sure to be locked on Dallas as the ominous Hell in a Cell touches ground at the American Airlines Arena.
Fans are itching to see John Cena battle Randy Orton and Dean Ambrose finally get his hands on Seth Rollins inside the Cell, but there’s plenty more to be excited about at Hell in a Cell 2014. Stroll through and check out WWE.com’s predictions for the action-packed card.
How John Cena is going Hollywood to attract new fans to WWE
Nothing intimidated John Cena, who regularly faces 300-pound men in the wrestling ring — until he had to audition for Judd Apatow and Amy Schumer.
No slouch himself, packing 250 pounds onto a muscular 6-foot-one-inch frame, Cena was eager to make the leap from action movies to comedy. “These are the people who make funny,” says Cena. “I was more nervous of that than anything I’ve ever done.”
At a time when Dwayne Johnson and Dave Bautista have successfully transitioned from WWE to the bigscreen with franchises like “Fast & Furious,” “G.I. Joe” and “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Hollywood is now calling on Cena to make the leap.
WWE's John Cena to Develop TV shows with 'Pawn Stars' Producer Leftfield Pictures:
After spending the past 12 years on television as one of WWE’s top stars, John Cena plans to start producing his own shows.
Cena has tag teamed with “Pawn Stars ”- producer Leftfield pictures to develop unscripted series that revolve mostly around unknown individuals from all walks of life with compelling stories to tell.
“For someone like me that’s surrounded by so many interesting characters, you know when you brush up against someone who can hold a room,” Cena toldVariety. “There are so many people out there who can hold someone’s attention.”
While Cena is a fan of many scripted series on TV, “there’s a lot more opportunity in reality,” he said, and chances “to package lives the way they already are.”
As part of the development deal, Cena and Leftfield already have several ideas in the works, but aren’t ready to reveal the concepts just yet. Projects could potentially include Cena on screen somehow, but is not required to get a series off the ground.
“We have a few already in the pipeline, a few irons in the fire,” said Cena who is WWE’s biggest star and moneymaker as a regular on the company’s weekly shows like “Monday Night Raw” and “Friday Night SmackDown” and its monthly pay-per-views. Shows he creates with Leftfield would be produced independently outside of Cena’s contract with WWE, although there is an option for the company to participate in projects should it spark creatively to any of the concepts.
New York-based Leftfield certainly understands how to introduce quirky characters to the small screen. Its biggest hit, “Pawn Stars,” has become a franchise, with spinoffs in the U.K. and Australia, as well as “Cajun Pawn Stars.”It also produces and the car shows “Counting Cars,” “Carfellas” and “American Restoration,” which surely sparked Cena’s interest since he’s a serious car fan and collector. Company’s credits also include “Hillbillies for Hire,” “Truck Stop U.S.A.” and “Guntucky.”
“John Cena has broad appeal across so many different audiences and demographics; it makes total sense that his celebrity has exploded,” said Leftfield Entertainment CEO Brent Montgomery. “Leftfield has always been an entrepreneurial outfit, and we love collaborating with other aggressive entrepreneurs looking for creative ways to reach new markets and tell compelling, unconventional stories. We are really excited to be in business with Cena.”
Leftfield expanded last year through the acquisition of Sirens Media (“Real Housewives of New Jersey”), adding the shingle to its overall Leftfield Entertainment company portfolio, which also includes Loud TV (“Tiny House Nation”). It also formed production company Outpost Entertainment with Jodi Flynn (“Hoarders,” “Three Sheets”).
Cena isn’t the only WWE star that’s turned to TV on his own to expand his presence in front of and behind the camera.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson began producing TV shows in 2012, starting with reality competition show “The Hero,” co-produced with Ben Silverman’s Electus Entertainment.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As it turns out, going through “Hell” has its rewards. Like, for instance, a shot at getting to heaven, at least in the metaphorical sense. Thanks to Triple H, either John Cena or Randy Orton will have the chance to ascend once again to supreme glory. The King of Kings declared that whomever survives their trip inside the 20-foot tall,5-ton Hell In A Cell will go one-on-one with The Conqueror himself, Brock Lesnar, with the championship on the line. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.
Paul Heyman interrupted John Cena and Randy Orton
John Cena and Randy Orton’s rivalry has long been a tale of two Superstars, but with a match for the WWE World Heavyweight Title at stake, their ongoing battle has now pulled a third player into its orbit: the WWE World Heavyweight Champion himself, Brock Lesnar. So it was no surprise that Lesnar’s advocate, Paul Heyman, resurfaced in the midst of Cena and Orton’s latest war of words to deliver a warning of his own. It was actually more of a promise that whomever emerged from Hell in a Cell as the No. 1 contender would become little more than fresh meat for The Conqueror when their title match did go down. Only, Orton wasn't having any of Heyman's bravado, to say nothing of Cena’s. No sooner had Cena threatened Heyman with an Attitude Adjustment than The Viper pounced out of nowhere and RKO’d both men into unconsciousness.
Randy Orton, Kane and Seth Rollins defeated Dean Ambrose and John Cena
After weeks of outright losses, disqualifications that turned the tide against them and left-field humiliation, The Authority was due for a dominant win. Well, they got one just in time: Randy Orton, Kane & Seth Rollins’ Street Fight–rules win over John Cena & Dean Ambrose ensured that Triple H’s foot soldiers will march into Hell in a Cell with some much-needed momentum. Perhaps more importantly, the win casts doubt for the first time in weeks on Cena and Ambrose’s ability to prevail in their fourth and first, respectively, trips inside the place where rivalries are resolved forever.
Despite Kane’s designation as The Authority’s “general” per Triple H, Mr. Money in the Bank took charge in a gang-up on The Lunatic Fringe and handily neutralized Cena as well. He rammed the “face that runs the place,” as Cena called himself earlier in the night, straight through a chair before Kane tagged in and commanded the Hell in a Cell structure be lowered. The brawl ignited anew once the steel hit the ground, but it was Orton who struck the final blow with an RKO to Ambrose for the win … only to suffer a Curb Stomp from outta nowhere courtesy of Rollins, who clearly doesn't see Orton as the future, regardless of whether he gets a match with Brock Lesnar. Hey, anything goes in “Hell.”
