WWE Payback 2014 predictions
@HowardFinkel: This contest is right up Cena’s alley. He has proved time and again that he has tremendous endurance and stamina for a match like this, and he is a veteran of this type of combat. But in my view, Bray Wyatt has got the best of Cena in all aspects of their issue, and I feel that Wyatt will stand tall after all is said and done this Sunday. WINNER: Bray Wyatt
Jake Grate: Bray Wyatt has the whole world in his hands, but does he have the Cenation leader right where he wants him? Locked in a conflict unlike any he has faced during his legendary WWE career, Cena must find a way to overcome the charismatic, erratic “New Face of Fear.” Fortunately for the 14-time World Champion, his mantra of “Never Give Up” will carry him through one of the toughest matches of his life, though he may never be the same. WINNER: John Cena
Anthony Benigno: You can count the number of times John Cena loses in big matches on one hand, with digits left over. And yet, for all the Cenation leader’s “Never Give Up” tenacity, Last Man Standing Matches are kind of his Achilles’ heel. His record in these particular contests is less successful than the WWE Universe may realize, and Bray Wyatt has set up shop in his psyche for the better part of three months now. Look for The Eater of Worlds to complete his conquest and move on to his next convert. WINNER: Bray Wyatt
John Clapp: It’s a foregone conclusion that Harper & Rowan will elbow their way into the festivities, but I’m also of the belief they’ll be neutralized by Jimmy & Jey Uso. So, removing those towering intruders from the equation, I foresee the Last Man Standing Match being contested the way it’s intended, as a one-on-one match. However, this won’t be a test of attrition in the tradition of, say, Dory Funk Sr. and Mike DiBiase’s hours-long Texas Death Match decades ago. Rather, this will be fast, blunt and physically intense, ending with a kiss from Sister Abigail. WINNER: Bray Wyatt
Bray Wyatt: 3, John Cena: 2

In the height of SmackDown’s furious tag team main event, Bray Wyatt brought about the disqualification by throwing one of The Usos off the top rope and out onto the ringside floor. However, John Cena seized back the momentum without missing a beat, leaping into action to deliver a retaliatory post-match Attitude Adjustment to Erick Rowan.
While the Cenation leader may have been down for the ten-count on Raw, he sent the strong message to The Eater of Worlds that he will be looking to stand tall in their Last Man Standing Match at WWE Payback.

What Happened after Raw Went Off Air:
The Shield then left to the back. As Rowan was laying in the ring, Bad New Barrett's music hit. Barrett got in the ring and told Rowan that he had some "bad news," and then planted Rowan with the Bullhammer. While all this was happening, Cena was still on the outside of the ring.
Rowan went to the back and Cena finally came to and got in the ring. He took the mic and said that he had some bad news, and that he was Sister Abigailed out of his shoe. He then said that tonight belonged to Barrett and London, handed the mic to Barrett and then took off to the back.

John Cena accepted Bray Wyatt's challenge
GREENSBORO, N.C. – With WWE Payback fast approaching, the leader of the Cenation tempted the fury of the monster, with a pair of high-flying equalizers ready to watch his backJohn Cena kicked off SmackDown, accepting Bray Wyatt’s challenge for a Last Man Standing Match at WWE Payback. However, considering Cena’s extensive history in that particular type of match, he figured the only reason his dangerous foe would dare propose the stipulation was because he didn’t have any “marbles” in his head. Cena then threw down the gauntlet and challenged any member of The Wyatt Family to a SmackDown showdown, allowing The Eater of Worlds to choose the opponent!
Wyatt and his disciplines soon emerged on the TitanTron, thanking Cena for helping him find the cure to his adversary’s “plague” – namely to take the air from his lungs. The self-professed “god” then followed up another frightening rendition of “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” with a single word: “burn"!
John Cena def. Erick Rowan
Despise John Cena’s earlier challenge to take on any member of The Wyatt Family leader’s choosing, it looked as if the “New Face of Fear” came to SmackDown’s main event ready to launch a 3-on-1 assault. However, the sudden addition of WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos made the creepy trio put that plan on hold.
Instead of taking on the match himself, Bray then chose Erick Rowan to face the leader of the Cenation. As the action of the hard-fought contest reached a fevered pitch, The Usos disposed of an interfering Luke Harper, paving the way for the 11-time WWE Champion to rally back from the Claw and triumph over Rowan with an Attitude Adjustment.

John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt (Last Man Standing Match)
Bray Wyatt has poached John Cena’s supporters, threatened his legacy and vowed to take him on a trip from which there is no returning. At WWE Payback, the world will see just how far “The Eater of Worlds” is truly willing to go when he and the Cenation leader face off in a Last Man Standing Match.
Reserved for sports-entertainment’s most ferocious grudges, there are no pinfalls, submissions, count-outs or disqualifications in a Last Man Standing Match. The object of the contest is to incapacitate your opponent to the point he cannot answer the referee’s count of 10, demonstrating just how severe the Cena-Wyatt dispute has become.
Call it sinister brainwashing or altruistic coaxing, the charismatic orator known as Bray Wyatt has obsessively tried convincing Cenation to “follow the buzzards.” The campaign has gained some traction, as more and more WWE fans seem to join the chorus, “He’s got the whole world in his hands.” Declaring himself “God,” Wyatt has pledged to rip away Cena’s supporters while burning down the world, only to rebuild it in his own image.
Yet, the stalwart Cenation leader has made clear that despite Wyatt’s threats, the 14-time World Champion continues to live by the simple maxim expressed on his shirt: Never give up. No matter how down and out he may appear, no matter how many supporters he does or does not have, Cena insists he will never back down.
The upholder of hustle, loyalty and respect has so far endured the head games, but can he silence Wyatt at WWE Payback? Or will buzzards be circling overhead when “The Man of 1,000 Truths,” who claims he’ll be left standing when all else crumbles, gets through with the Cenation leader?
Find out when WWE Payback airs live on WWE Network and pay-per-view Sunday, June 1, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

John Cena & The Usos def The Wyatt Family
John Cena & The Usos have evened the score against The Wyatt Family, but it looks like The Eater of Worlds is not yet ready to conclude the game. In their second match in four days against The Wyatts, Cena & the WWE Tag Team Champions took their time getting to their promised retribution, pausing instead to put an old fashioned hurting on the backwoods brutes. After Jey Uso was battered about by all three Wyatts, Jimmy took over to turn the tide before he was shut down with authority by Luke Harper.
From there it was Jimmy’s turn to suffer The Wyatts’ collective wrath, and a tag to Cena only instigated a bout of all-out chaos that ended in the most epic fashion possible: Two Uso superkicks to an interfering Bray Wyatt and an Attitude Adjustment to Erick Rowan for a 1-2-3 from the Cenation leader. Instead of his usual post-match sermon, however, Bray only had a few choice words for his rival: A “thank you” for helping him realize what he had to do.
John Cena Talks About His Status With WWE Fans, WWE Taking Care Of Their Talents, More
WWE Superstar John Cena spoke with The Washington Post while in Washington, DC for this weekend’s Susan G. Komen race. Below are some highlights:
You take part in charity and cause events more than anyone else in WWE, it seems, and you’ve been doing it for more than a decade now. Does it still have the same sense of fulfillment after all these years?
Absolutely. Especially something like this, the Global Race for the Cure in D.C. is enormous. I get to pretty much grand marshal the race, get to rile everybody up, get them set to run a good one. When I talk about that instance with my brother, my goal is to help people. When you walk down this career path — you say I’ve been doing this close to a decade — your goals change as your career goes on. You want to spend your time making a difference after you’ve become successful. I guess that’s the easiest way to say it. With this, early detection is the way to fight and beat this thing. D.C. has the highest mortality rate in breast cancer. So to be able to grand marshal the Global Race in D.C., it makes a difference. Hopefully it will help save some people’s lives.
When dealing with your own body, how do you take care of yourself in an industry that’s dangerous and also gets its share of public bad news every so often?
I think that bad news is relative. You hear bad news through all of sports, in all of life. It’s not just entertainers or athletes. There are people with problems in life. The way I stay on top of that is, honestly, regularly scheduled check-ups, listening to my body, making sure I push myself to the limit and not beyond. You can only do what you handle.
A lot has changed with WWE in the past decade in terms of health and well-being, do you think the younger wrestlers are now better informed and know their limits?
With the addition of impact testing, the addition of drug testing, the formulation of developmental territories where these younger WWE superstars are getting the best medical attention, the best financial advice, getting future advice — the company has literally leaps and bounds improved the work environment to the best it’s ever been. Being a WWE superstar is now a greater achievement and a greater luxury than it’s ever been.
Your status with the fans is kind of split these days and has been for a little while. Does that every impact the things you do outside of the ring?
Dude. You say a little while. On April 6 we just celebrated the 30th anniversary of Wrestlemania. I distinctly remember Wrestlemania 22 in Chicago, hearing the loudest one-sided reaction opposite me I’ve ever heard. Since then it’s been like that. It’s been eight years now. That stuff doesn’t transfer. The few audience members that it does transfer, they don’t have a proper sense of what’s going on.

WWE Extreme Rules 2014 Result
Bray Wyatt def John Cena
Sometimes it takes more than just charisma and a little black magic to compel a Universe. And sometimes it takes more than mere parlor tricks to beat John Cena. However, tonight, at Extreme Rules, Bray Wyatt managed to do both — he continued to charm the masses, swaying legions of WWE fans to his every whim as he defeated the Cenation leader in a brutal Steel Cage Match inside the IZOD Center.
With Wyatt disciples Luke Harper and Erick Rowan locked outside and stalking the structure from the onset, the 14-time World Champion came face to face with The New Face of Fear himself inside the imposing steel. And, though the cage served as a barricade of sorts to keep Harper and Rowan from getting in, Harper and Rowan did what they could to keep John Cena from getting out.
Wyatt was predictably brutish in the early going, and with his opponent down on the canvas, The Eater of Worlds served as conductor to the WWE Universe in attendance as they launched into an eerie rendition of “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.”
Still, as he’s done over the course of his illustrious career, Cena found a way to lift himself up off the canvas, and straight to the top of the cage. With Harper and Rowan ever-present at ringside, though, escape seemed nigh-impossible. With a battered and bruised Cena in his arms, Wyatt waltzed around the ring with his limp opponent, swaying to and fro to a song only he could hear.
The beating of Cena continued, and at times Wyatt appeared to be simply toying with his prey, hurling Cena into the unforgiving steel again and again. When Cena found a second wind and rallied, however, it soon became a question of not if Cena was locked inside the cage with Wyatt, but if Bray was trapped inside with an increasingly aggressive Cenation leader. After a ring-shaking powerbomb to his foe, Cena looked to be in prime position to walk out of the door and directly to victory.
But Harper and Rowan served as the barbarians at the gate in reverse, keeping Cena inside and feeding him back into the waiting arms of Bray Wyatt. Again Cena fought back and put Bray on his backside, but this time it was Rowan who halted the Cenation leader’s descent of the cage towards the arena floor.
After a huge bulldog from the top rope, Cena again climbed to the top, only to be met by Harper. This time, though, Cena brought Harper inside the structure with him, dumping the behemoth down onto the canvas beside Bray. Rowan again turned Cena back, and Wyatt took full advantage. The former WWE Champion was able to reverse an attempted Sister Abigail into an excruciating STF, but Wyatt broke the hold. Now locked inside with both Wyatt and Harper, Cena’s uphill battle grew steeper.
Even a stunning AA off the top rope to Wyatt was rendered for naught, as Harper broke up the attempted three-count. With monsters both inside and out, Cena and Rowan met at the top of the cage, where Cena incapacitated the giant before putting Harper down, as well.
Then, with all three Wyatt Family members lying prone, Cena had not only victory in sight, but the opportunity to literally leave the Wyatts — and their twisted message — inside the steel cage. Just as he climbed through the ropes and out the door, though, the lights in the IZOD center cut out and a child appeared at ringside, disturbingly singing Bray Wyatt’s twisted hymn over the sound system in an eerily distorted voice.
A stunned Cena stepped back through the ropes and into the ring, where he was met with a prompt and devastating Sister Abigail by Wyatt, who proceeded to climb through the ropes and down the steps to the ringside floor — and to a haunting victory.
While it can be said that, even in defeat, Cena stayed true to himself — and to the remaining members of the Cenation — Wyatt’s sway over the masses only grew over the course of this battle of good vs. evil , and the image of The Wyatt Family, walking hand-in-hand with a cloaked child, will remain in the collective psyche of the WWE Universe for a long, long time.
