Bray Wyatt has poached John Cena’s supporters, threatened his legacy and vowed to take him on a trip from which there is no returning. At WWE Payback, the world will see just how far “The Eater of Worlds” is truly willing to go when he and the Cenation leader face off in a Last Man Standing Match.
Reserved for sports-entertainment’s most ferocious grudges, there are no pinfalls, submissions, count-outs or disqualifications in a Last Man Standing Match. The object of the contest is to incapacitate your opponent to the point he cannot answer the referee’s count of 10, demonstrating just how severe the Cena-Wyatt dispute has become.
Call it sinister brainwashing or altruistic coaxing, the charismatic orator known as Bray Wyatt has obsessively tried convincing Cenation to “follow the buzzards.” The campaign has gained some traction, as more and more WWE fans seem to join the chorus, “He’s got the whole world in his hands.” Declaring himself “God,” Wyatt has pledged to rip away Cena’s supporters while burning down the world, only to rebuild it in his own image.
Yet, the stalwart Cenation leader has made clear that despite Wyatt’s threats, the 14-time World Champion continues to live by the simple maxim expressed on his shirt: Never give up. No matter how down and out he may appear, no matter how many supporters he does or does not have, Cena insists he will never back down.
The upholder of hustle, loyalty and respect has so far endured the head games, but can he silence Wyatt at WWE Payback? Or will buzzards be circling overhead when “The Man of 1,000 Truths,” who claims he’ll be left standing when all else crumbles, gets through with the Cenation leader?
Find out when WWE Payback airs live on WWE Network and pay-per-view Sunday, June 1, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
