WWE Hell In A Cell 2014 Predictions by WWE.Com staffs: John Cena VsRandy Orton

The most brutal night on the WWE calendar is almost here. The eyes of the WWE Universe are sure to be locked on Dallas as the ominous Hell in a Cell touches ground at the American Airlines Arena.
Fans are itching to see John Cena battle Randy Orton and Dean Ambrose finally get his hands on Seth Rollins inside the Cell, but there’s plenty more to be excited about at Hell in a Cell 2014. Stroll through and check out WWE.com’s predictions for the action-packed card.

How John Cena is going Hollywood to attract new fans to WWE

Nothing intimidated John Cena, who regularly faces 300-pound men in the wrestling ring — until he had to audition for Judd Apatow and Amy Schumer.
No slouch himself, packing 250 pounds onto a muscular 6-foot-one-inch frame, Cena was eager to make the leap from action movies to comedy. “These are the people who make funny,” says Cena. “I was more nervous of that than anything I’ve ever done.”
At a time when Dwayne Johnson and Dave Bautista have successfully transitioned from WWE to the bigscreen with franchises like “Fast & Furious,” “G.I. Joe” and “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Hollywood is now calling on Cena to make the leap.

WWE's John Cena to Develop TV shows with 'Pawn Stars' Producer Leftfield Pictures:

After spending the past 12 years on television as one of WWE’s top stars, John Cena plans to start producing his own shows.

Cena has tag teamed with “Pawn Stars ”- producer Leftfield pictures to develop unscripted series that revolve mostly around unknown individuals from all walks of life with compelling stories to tell.

“For someone like me that’s surrounded by so many interesting characters, you know when you brush up against someone who can hold a room,” Cena toldVariety. “There are so many people out there who can hold someone’s attention.”

While Cena is a fan of many scripted series on TV, “there’s a lot more opportunity in reality,” he said, and chances “to package lives the way they already are.”

As part of the development deal, Cena and Leftfield already have several ideas in the works, but aren’t ready to reveal the concepts just yet. Projects could potentially include Cena on screen somehow, but is not required to get a series off the ground.

“We have a few already in the pipeline, a few irons in the fire,” said Cena who is WWE’s biggest star and moneymaker as a regular on the company’s weekly shows like “Monday Night Raw” and “Friday Night SmackDown” and its monthly pay-per-views. Shows he creates with Leftfield would be produced independently outside of Cena’s contract with WWE, although there is an option for the company to participate in projects should it spark creatively to any of the concepts.

New York-based Leftfield certainly understands how to introduce quirky characters to the small screen. Its biggest hit, “Pawn Stars,” has become a franchise, with spinoffs in the U.K. and Australia, as well as “Cajun Pawn Stars.”It also produces and the car shows “Counting Cars,” “Carfellas” and “American Restoration,” which surely sparked Cena’s interest since he’s a serious car fan and collector. Company’s credits also include “Hillbillies for Hire,” “Truck Stop U.S.A.” and “Guntucky.”

“John Cena has broad appeal across so many different audiences and demographics; it makes total sense that his celebrity has exploded,” said Leftfield Entertainment CEO Brent Montgomery. “Leftfield has always been an entrepreneurial outfit, and we love collaborating with other aggressive entrepreneurs looking for creative ways to reach new markets and tell compelling, unconventional stories. We are really excited to be in business with Cena.”

Leftfield expanded last year through the acquisition of Sirens Media (“Real Housewives of New Jersey”), adding the shingle to its overall Leftfield Entertainment company portfolio, which also includes Loud TV (“Tiny House Nation”). It also formed production company Outpost Entertainment with Jodi Flynn (“Hoarders,” “Three Sheets”).

Cena isn’t the only WWE star that’s turned to TV on his own to expand his presence in front of and behind the camera.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson began producing TV shows in 2012, starting with reality competition show “The Hero,” co-produced with Ben Silverman’s Electus Entertainment.

Cena is repped by ICM.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As it turns out, going through “Hell” has its rewards. Like, for instance, a shot at getting to heaven, at least in the metaphorical sense. Thanks to Triple H, either John Cena or Randy Orton will have the chance to ascend once again to supreme glory. The King of Kings declared  that whomever survives their trip inside the 20-foot tall,5-ton Hell In A Cell will go one-on-one with The Conqueror himself, Brock Lesnar, with the championship on the line. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.

Paul Heyman interrupted John Cena and Randy Orton

John Cena and Randy Orton’s rivalry has long been a tale of two Superstars, but with a match for the WWE World Heavyweight Title at stake, their ongoing battle has now pulled a third player into its orbit: the WWE World Heavyweight Champion himself, Brock Lesnar. So it was no surprise that Lesnar’s advocate, Paul Heyman, resurfaced in the midst of Cena and Orton’s latest war of words to deliver a warning of his own. It was actually more of a promise that whomever emerged from Hell in a Cell as the No. 1 contender would become little more than fresh meat for The Conqueror when their title match did go down. Only, Orton wasn't having any of Heyman's bravado, to say nothing of Cena’s. No sooner had Cena threatened Heyman with an Attitude Adjustment than The Viper pounced out of nowhere and RKO’d both men into unconsciousness.

Randy Orton, Kane and Seth Rollins defeated Dean Ambrose and John Cena

After weeks of outright losses, disqualifications that turned the tide against them and left-field humiliation, The Authority was due for a dominant win. Well, they got one just in time: Randy Orton, Kane & Seth Rollins’ Street Fight–rules win over John Cena & Dean Ambrose ensured that Triple H’s foot soldiers will march into Hell in a Cell with some much-needed momentum. Perhaps more importantly, the win casts doubt for the first time in weeks on Cena and Ambrose’s ability to prevail in their fourth and first, respectively, trips inside the place where rivalries are resolved forever.

Despite Kane’s designation as The Authority’s “general” per Triple H, Mr. Money in the Bank took charge in a gang-up on The Lunatic Fringe and handily neutralized Cena as well. He rammed the “face that runs the place,” as Cena called himself earlier in the night, straight through a chair before Kane tagged in and commanded the Hell in a Cell structure be lowered. The brawl ignited anew once the steel hit the ground, but it was Orton who struck the final blow with an RKO to Ambrose for the win … only to suffer a Curb Stomp from outta nowhere courtesy of Rollins, who clearly doesn't see Orton as the future, regardless of whether he gets a match with Brock Lesnar. Hey, anything goes in “Hell.”

WWE Hell In A Cell- John Cena Vs Randy Orton (Hell In A Cell Match)

John Cena vs. Randy Orton in a Hell in a Cell Match

The bitter and historic rivalry between 15-time World Champion John Cena and 12-time World Champion Randy Orton will add yet another chapter on Oct. 26 when the Superstars enter the unforgiving Hell in a Cell to do battle.

The match was brought into play after Dean Ambrose bested the Cenation leader in a No Holds Barred, Contract-on-a-Pole Match on the Oct. 13 edition of Raw. Per The Authority, the Superstar who did not win that contest would still have to compete in a Hell in a Cell Match against the ever-vicious Viper, who petitioned for the stipulation in an attempt to remind all why he considers himself The Face of WWE.

The Authority confronted Dean Ambrose and John Cena

ATLANTA – If Hell is other people, then John Cena and Dean Ambrose don’t even have to wait two weeks before one of them goes there: The Lunatic Fringe and the 15-time World Champion’s destinies are so intertwined at this point they’re practically both in Mephistopheles’ clutches already. Their predicament didn’t get any better on Raw, either: Despite dropping each other across the previous week, tensions between the two Superstars were at an all-time high as their battle for the right to face Seth Rollins inside Hell in a Cell approaches. The Authority decided to have some fun with that, forcing Cena & Ambrose to team up against The Usos and Gold & Stardust in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match. Somewhere, Teddy Long is smiling.

John Cena & Dean Ambrose def. WWE Tag Team Champions Gold & Stardust & The Usos

Perhaps the enemy of John Cena’s enemy truly is his friend. Forced to team under duress with Dean Ambrose yet again, the Cenation leader and The Lunatic Fringe marshaled their uneasy alliance to a victory over the current and former WWE Tag Team Champions, proving they may have been formidable titleholders themselves in some alternate WWE Universe.

Thanks to a timely tag from Stardust, however, Cena & Ambrose found themselves out of the fight while the four brothers had it out. Ambrose created an outside-the-ring brawl that forced one of the Usos to tag in Cena, who summarily cleaned house, though not without a bit of top-rope one-upsmanship from Ambrose. The twosome dispatched of Gold & Stardust simultaneously, with Cena scoring the decisive pin … and then, having seen what they can do as allies, The Authority sped up their trip to the inferno, moving Cena and Ambrose’s No Holds Barred Contract on a Pole Match to later that very same evening.

Dean Ambrose def. John Cena in a No Holds Barred Contract on a Pole Match to earn the right to face Seth Rollins inside Hell in a Cell

Well, well, well, Dean Ambrose is going to Hell. Or maybe it’s Seth Rollins who is headed straight to the pit, since Mr. Money in the Bank’s former brother-in-arms prevailed over John Cena to capture a contract guaranteeing him a spot in the Cell against Rollins to settle their rivalry once and for all (Cena, by the way, isn’t exactly getting off easy: He may not have Rollins but that just means the 15-time World Champion will face Randy Orton in the steel structure instead).

For a while, it seemed like Ambrose was more interested in punishing Cena than claiming his prize; The Lunatic Fringe battled his opponent up the ramp and absorbed as much damage as he inflicted. Cena claimed the advantage by using Ambrose himself as a fastball special against The Authority, who had gathered at ringside, but the former U.S. Champion proved himself to be much less unstable than his T-shirt would have you believe: While Cena preoccupied himself with his corporate foes, Ambrose clambered up the turnbuckle and snatched the contract for his own. Next stop? Hell itself.

EXCLUSIVE: John Cena's Greatest Rivalries DVD Review

John Cena isn't exactly a rarely touched on subject by WWE, and particularly on home video. The 2003 release "Word Life" gave fans a look at how the blue chip superstar transformed from a fresh young babyface into the "Doctor of Thuganomics." 2007's "My Life" served as a full-on documentary for the star, who had become the biggest name in the WWE by that time.

The coverage didn't stop there however, as 2010's "John Cena Experience" took a look at Cena's insane schedule and routine, and two years ago saw a special release regarding Cena's highly publicized feud with blockbuster movie star, The Rock .

What more could be covered? With the WWE so thoroughly chronicling John Cena's career it would appear on the surface that there isn't much left to be desired. Yet with well over 12 years under his belt, the man had enough classic, iconic feuds to fuel another release. One look at the liner notes shows that it's warranted.

- To open things up, Cena's early battles with Eddie Guerrero and Batista are shown, including a match Cena had in OVW as "Prototype" taking on Batista, then known as "Leviathan." There's also a cool transition before each feud is touched on that replicates a video game character select screen.

Cena is very complimentary of Guerrero and Eddie's influence on his career. Guerrero's inclusion is a nice surprise, because it isn't one of Cena's high profile feuds. The matches included are a U.S. Title tournament match, and their classic " Latino Heat Parking Lot Brawl" on Smackdown, that was later featured on the WWE video games.

The OVW Title match between Prototype and Leviathan was also included, with each respective gimmick being shown on the aforementioned "video game character select screen." Cena put over the huge OVW class that featured himself, Shelton Benjamin, Randy Orton and Batista. The two are obviously green in the match, but the promise in both is also evident.

After not being involved with each other for several years, the two met again in a Last Man Standing match at Extreme Rules 2010 (WWE incorrectly has it listed as April 2005 in the set). Cena mentions how the two were much more seasoned and had a much different dynamic. This would be Batista's final feud before leaving the WWE for four years.

- Many didn't expect Shawn Michaels and John Cena to have a series of classic matches despite HBK's ability and the cohesion is on full display in this set. The two were thrown together due to an injury to Triple H, and ended up having one of the best matches in Raw history in April 2007, which is featured in this set. Cena put over Michaels huge as a teacher to him this set, which also has their April 2008 Raw match as well.

- Perhaps Cena's longest-standing rival is Randy Orton. Cena goes through the typical motions of them bringing out the best in each other and being competitive. It's interesting to see the stark contrast in interest between their Summerslam 2007 meeting and the February 2014 Raw match, which are the two matches shown. Seven years ago this was a highly anticipated feud with a hot crowd. Years later it still gets a good reaction, but nowhere close to the original.

Cena says JBL coached him in the early stages of his career, as he's said about several of his opponents. He talks about how hard they went in the ring, and how important his first main event feud was. The selection of matches between the two is interesting, as WrestleMania 22 was an obvious choice, but a forgotten about Raw encounter between the two from June 2008 as well. Cena said that by the time he got to JBL he'd already had matches with Brock Lesnar and the Undertaker, so he was used to the physicality.

As the production powers on, you realize how many classic matches John Cena has had, a far cry from people chanting "you can't wrestle" in unison at him for years prior.

- Chris Jericho and John Cena aren't remembered for a particularly memorable rivalry, but the two have had their fair share of classic moments. Jericho was Cena's first PPV opponent (not included in the set), and Cena dealt Jericho a loss that ended his WWE career for two years, which is shown. An underrated, excellent match between the two for the World Heavyweight Championship from Survivor Series 2008 is a highlight on this collection.

- John Cena's greatest rivalry was likely against Edge. The two had a giant series of battles that truly brought out the best in both guys and started a real turning point in Cena's career in which helped him put on consistently good matches. This feud was probably more important to Edge than Cena, but ended up being a definitive one for both.

The second disc kicks off with the Edge matches, the first of which is a cage match from October 2006. The second, a Last Man Standing match from Backlash 2009, shows how comfortable the two had become with each other, truly becoming the Frazier to the other's Ali. It was a bit surprising that their TLC match wasn't on the blu-ray, but it's on no less than three other releases and the WWE Network, so it's not hard to find.

- Cena's battles with WWE juggernaut Triple H from WrestleMania 22 and Raw in October 2009 really show John Cena's progression as a competitor. Triple H is billed as a technical master and while John Cena clearly isn't, he never falls behind Triple H in their matches which is a testament to his work ethic and transcends the screen.

The main release closes out with John Cena's iconic feud with The Rock. As mentioned earlier, there was a full release about the first match. Wisely WWE didn't include the first match, possibly in light of this and instead put their Q&A from 2013 in its place. The second match is included however. There isn't much said here that you can't hear said in pre-match promos or the match itself on the WWE Network.

- Buried (no pun intended) on the blu-ray exclusives are chapters about Cena's rivalry with CM Punk. If Edge was Cena's best feud, than Punk could have very well been his best opponent. The two had outstanding, even legendary matches and had an unmatched chemistry in the ring. Their amazing February 2013 Raw match is on the set, which saw the return of the piledriver to WWE programming. In addition to that, a November 2008 Raw encounter is also on there.

- It would have been nice to see some more tag-team related topics included on this set, notably his fantastic six-man tag team matches with The Shield from last year. While he was never a major cog in the machine that built The Shield, the group had a bitter rivalry with pretty much the entire roster. A few more blu-ray extras could have really set the second disc off as well. With so many interviews in the can, it seems like WWE could have had these opponents shown talking about their experiences with Cena.

This production houses some of the most classic matches over the past decade for WWE, and will give you a renewed appreciation of Cena's work. This isn't a documentary feature, so your perception of it will directly reflect that of your perception of Cena as an in-ring worker as it's a collection of matches. If you have the WWE Network you have many of these matches, but WWE did a good job of mixing in more obscure Raw and Smackdown matches as well.

Cena gave Ambrose an Attitude Adjustment on "MizTv"

A special SmackDown 15th Anniversary edition of “MizTV” didn’t disappoint as The Miz kicked off his talk show by announcing that John Cena and Dean Ambrose’s contest at Hell in a Cell will be a Contract on a Pole Match!

Despite The Awesome One’s attempts to instigate a fight between the Cenation leader and The Lunatic Fringe, both quarreling Superstars worked together to dispose of the self-proclaimed Hollywood movie star. After the unstable Ambrose hit a double-arm DDT on the egotistical host, the 15-time World Champion put an exclamation point on SmackDown’s 15th Anniversary Celebration with an Attitude Adjustment on an unsuspecting Ambrose.

Seth Rollins addressed his embarrassment the previous week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — He may have gotten the gunk out of his hair, but Seth Rollins couldn’t remove the egg from his face after his epic humiliation at the hands of Dean Ambrose and an air cannon loaded with Gak last week on Raw. The Lunatic Fringe’s desecration of both the Money in the Bank briefcase and Mr. Money in the Bank himself set Rollins into an epic tizzy at Raw’s beginning, leading him to more or less dare Cena and Ambrose to come and get him.

So, of course, they did; Cena from the stage and Ambrose from the crowd when Rollins tried to flee through the WWE Universe. But the combined might of Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury helped dissuade the two-on-one ambush long enough to provide Mr. Money in the Bank some safe harbor at the last minute. The timely appearance of The Authority also gave Rollins some extra protection for Raw’s main event, which would reform the uneasy Cena-Ambrose alliance against all three members of the corporate stable, Rollins, Kane & Randy Orton.

Dean Ambrose ditched John Cena

Who among us hasn’t wanted to drop what we’re doing and go to Coney Island? Granted, we’re not all Dean Ambrose, and the task we’re abandoning doesn’t involve the main event of Raw. But still, The Lunatic Fringe’s march into folk-hero status likely got its biggest boost when he left John Cena high and dry — as payment for the Cenation leader’s  abandonment of him on Smackdown— in favor of seeking out a ticket on the world-famous Cyclone. As for Cena, he was left on a different kind of island as he suddenly faced a three-on-one battle against The Authority in Raw’s main event. Hopefully his Never-Give-Up philosophy will be enough to keep him in one piece.

John Cena defeated Randy Orton, Kane and Seth Rollins via Disqualification

John Cena loves him some odds to overcome, and the Cenation leader found himself in quite the conundrum when his scheduled partner Dean Ambrose left him to the mercy of The Authority in a 3-on-1 match that devolved quickly into an unmitigated beating. Triple H had conceded that Seth Rollins would start the match, but The Aerialist quickly tagged out and Kane & Randy Orton set to work tenderizing the 15-time World Champion.

By the time Rollins did tag in, Cena was all but served on a platter and a three-on-one beating earned him a hollow DQ win, yet it turned out the strongman wasn’t as alone as he thought. After a few moments of butchery, Dean Ambrose returned and quite literally hot-dogged his way to the ring, utilizing a weaponized street vendor’s cart and all the goodies contained therein to administer a beating from which the corporate cabal could not, erm, ketchup. The party didn’t exactly cut the mustard for Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, though: The Authority drove perhaps the greatest wedge yet between the unsteady tandem by announcing a Cena vs. Ambrose contest for WWE Hell in a Cell, wherein the winner would get a coveted chance to face Seth Rollins himself inside the place where rivalries are settled forever. It was an announcement that neither Ambrose nor Cena seemed too happy about, though Ambrose certainly seemed to relish the double-arm DDT to the Cenation leader that kicked off their rivalry in earnest.

John Cena Vs Dean Ambrose (Winner faces Seth Rollins in a Hell In A Cell match)

As a common enemy of John Cena and Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins is a marked man, and he must face one of his adversaries inside a locked Hell in a Cell on Oct. 26.

But whether Mr. Money in the Bank’s opponent will be the Cenation leader or The Lunatic Fringe won’t be known until that night, when uneasy allies Cena and Ambrose will be first pit against each other in battle, with the winner advancing to a Hell in a Cell Match against Rollins!

The unique arrangement, brought into play by The Authority on the Oct. 6 edition of Raw, adds friction to Cena and Ambrose’s already tenuous alliance, which is built upon a mutual disdain of Rollins.

The unstable Ambrose is frothing at the mouth to get even with Rollins, who nearly put the unstable Superstar out of action for good with a ruthless Curb Stomp through cinderblocks. Cena, meanwhile, has been eager to get his hands on Rollins since Night of Champions, when The Architect arguably cost Cena his WWE World Heavyweight Championship rematch against Brock Lesnar. In recent weeks, Cena and Ambrose have come to each other’s aid as well as left one another high and dry, seemingly leaving both Superstars uncertain of each other’s motives.

The structure of determining Rollins’ Hell in a Cell opponent sets the table for a very intriguing night on Oct. 26 and begs numerous questions. Just how far will Cena and Ambrose go to secure their spot against Rollins? To what degree will their one-on-one conflict impair the winner when he claims his “prize” — a Hell in a Cell Match against the ever-dangerous and intelligent Rollins? Most important, perhaps: Will it be Ambrose or Cena who goes straight to “Hell” on Oct. 26?

To find out, don’t miss Hell in a Cell when it airs live on WWE Network and pay-per-view on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT!

What will WWE be like in five years? WWE.COM editors offer their predictions

The landscape of WWE is always changing and it’s difficult to predict who will be WWE World Heavyweight Champion next week, let alone a year from now. However, a conversation during a meeting at WWE.com quickly turned into a heated debate over where WWE will be in five years.

A small group of WWE.com editors took on the challenge of predicting where John Cena, Dean Ambrose and more will be by the year 2019.  Who do we think will be champion? Where will WrestleMania be held? Check out our forecasts and let us know where YOU think WWE will be five years from now in the comments section.

John Cena will be Raw General manager

It may be difficult to fathom, but five years from now John Cena’s in-ring career will be winding down. By 2019, Cena will have surpassed Ric Flair to become the first 19-time World Champion in sports-entertainment history, and he’ll be ripe for induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. That’s not to say that the Cenation leader no longer grapples, but his competitive in-ring appearances will be reserved for his most bitter rivalries, and will only take place on The Grandest Stage of Them All — WrestleMania.

Nevertheless, Cena won’t be a “part-time” Superstar. He will still be on Raw nearly every week but rather than active competition, Cena will be Raw’s most successful and fair General Manager. He will keep WWE authority figures in check and make sure Raw remains the most action-packed show on television. Of course, the 19-time World Champion will have his enemies, but he’ll be the first to get physical if the situation arises. — KEVIN POWERS

The Authority interrupted John Cena's truce with Dean Ambrose

MILWAUKEE — On SmackDown, the desire of two Superstars to even the odds with Seth Rollins lead to a two-on-one onslaught of The Lunatic Fringe.

Just when it looked as if John Cena and Dean Ambrose were ready to shake hands and call a truce in their mutual desire to get retribution on Seth Rollins; Corporate Kane, Randy Orton and Rollins appeared on the TitanTron.

After pointing out some insulting things that the 15-time World Champion and WWE’s most unstable Superstar had supposedly said about each other in the past, Kane challenged them to prove their new peace accord against the combined force of him and The Viper in SmackDown’s main event.

John Cena & Dean Ambrose defeated Kane & Randy Orton by Disqualification

John Cena and Dean Ambrose remained obsessed with individually getting payback on Seth Rollins, but they turned their focus to battling Corporate Kane & Randy Orton in Smackdown's main event.

When Mr. Money in the Bank emerged in the height of the hard fought match, however, Cena abandoned his tag team partner and ignited a brawl with his foe that stretched all the way to the back.

The actions of the 15-time World Champion left the war-torn Ambrose to face the combined aggression of his opponents alone, and the fact that their double-team brought an end to the match by disqualification couldn’t have mattered less. After Kane hit the chokeslam on the unstable Superstar, WWE's Apex Predator finished him off with the RKO. By the time Cena returned to the ring, the damage had already been done.

The Authority demanded Dean Ambrose return Seth Rollins' Money In The Bank Briefcase

CHICAGO – Forget hijacking Raw, The Authority has a bigger, more pertinent theft to deal with: Dean Ambrose’s burglary of the Money in the Bank briefcase on SmackDown, leaving The Authority’s crown prince temporarily without his golden ticket. Adding to their problems at the start of Raw was the threat of Brock Lesnar having to deal with Seth Rollins for his Night of Champions sneak attack, though Rollins put Paul Heyman’s mind to rest on that matter relatively early on by insisting he attacked The Beast Incarnate of his own accord.

Yet even after The Authority did manage to make contact with Ambrose, who appeared on the TitanTron and dared Rollins to get the briefcase himself, the corporate power had to contend with one more obstacle. That would be John Cena, who stormed Triple H & Co. and sent Rollins scurrying for cover for the second week straight.

John Cena and Dean Ambrose defeated Kane and Randy Orton via Disqualification

Lesson of the night? Don’t disrespect Mr. Money in the Bank. Even when they lost, The Authority won in Raw’s main event as Seth Rollins administered his long-promised punishment to Dean Ambrose following a disqualification loss by his Authority-mates, Kane & Randy Orton, to Ambrose & John Cena. The corporate competitors certainly avenged their humiliation at Cena and Ambrose’s hands the previous week as well. After Rollins struck — moments after Ambrose planted Orton with Dirty Deeds — they took advantage of a squabble between the fan-favorites to tear the twosome apart with Chokeslams, RKOs and, as a final exclamation point, Curb Stomps for each atop the Money in the Bank briefcase itself.

John Cena and Dean Ambrose called out Seth Rollins

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — He’s baaaaaack. One month after escaping WWE medical officials and going on the lam, Dean Ambrose has returned from his walkabout and is ready for some payback. In fact, the self-dubbed “ugly stepchild” of WWE staged a literal sit in until The Authority presented Seth Rollins for further punishment. What he got was John Cena, who similarly wanted a piece of Mr. Money in the Bank. Ambrose wasn’t exactly OK with splitting his prize down the middle and seemed more than ready to throw down with the Cenation leader as well. The Authority’s attempt to restore order led Cena and Ambrose to take matters into their own hands and chase Rollins through the bowels of the arena , until he commandeered a civilian’s car and sped away from his pursuers.

John Cena defeated Randy Orton via Disqualification

If there was ever a main event that was best for business, it’s certainly another installment of one of WWE’s most legendary rivalries. This latest, Authority-ordered clash between John Cena and Randy Orton did have a few wrinkles added, however. Seth Rollins and Kane were lurking at ringside and had set up a “surprise” for The Viper that looked suspiciously like a poorly disguised stack of what’s fast becoming The Authority’s trademark cinderblocks.

Bolstered by the presence of his compatriots, Orton controlled Cena for much of a bout that grew brutal pretty quickly; the announce table was decimated at one point and Orton all but tore the armbands off Cena’s wrist attempting to set up his hanging DDT. The Authority pounced the moment Cena seemed to have the match in hand with an STF and quickly brought the fan favorite to his knees. Yet when they prepared to unveil the cinderblocks — surprise — Dean Ambrose turned out to be lurking beneath the veil, having escaped his confinement somehow and ready to raise hell. And just as the night began, Seth Rollins made his escape by a single blond-dyed hair and faced enemies on all fronts with Cena and Ambrose both looking to get their hands on him. At this point, it’s merely a matter of who gets there first.

Night Of Champions 2014 Results

John Cena defeated WWE WorldHeavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar by disqualification

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — John Cena brought the fight to WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar like never before at Night of Champions. Yet despite the Cenation leader’s near-superhuman tenacity against The Beast Incarnate in this massive SummerSlam rematch, redemption ultimately slipped through his fingers . Shockingly, it wasn’t Lesnar that would be his undoing.

Since Cena’s crushing defeat at Summerslam that saw him fall victim to 16 suplexes and two F-5s, the indomitable Superstar has gone into overdrive, determined to match WWE’s most dominant force with some newfound intensity of his own. Shortly after the opening bell of this titanic Night of Champions main event, it was almost hard to believe that the muscled juggernaut pummeling Lesnar was the same guy who could be found smiling at us from the Fruity Pebbles box or solving animated mysteries with Scooby Doo. Cena had become a destroyer, and if you looked close enough at Lesnar’s face during Cena’s early Attitude Adjustment, you might have noticed something that resembled doubt in The Conqueror’s eyes.

But then Lesnar kicked out. At the count of one. Things got uglier from there.

After Cena nailed The Beast with his signature maneuver, Lesnar caught the Cenation leader in the Kimura Lock, beginning his match-long attack on Cena’s left arm. Ever vigilant, Cena repeatedly battled back, unloading on Lesnar with flurries of punches and elbow strikes. Time and again, though, The Conqueror repelled the challenger’s attacks the way Godzilla shrugs off cannon fire.

With the same arsenal that left Cena in a heap at Summerslam- including savage strikes to the midsection and those wince-inducing suplexes — Lesnar tested the unyielding resolve of Mr. “Hustle, Loyalty and Respect,” removing his MMA gloves to soften up Cena with a bare-knuckle assault. But the complexion of the match changed completely when Cena somehow managed to back the champion into the ropes and nailed Lesnar with the night’s second Attitude Adjustment. This time, Lesnar kicked out at two. With a near-victory, Cena reminded the WWE Universe — and The Beast’s vocal advocate, Paul Heyman, at ringside — that Lesnar was indeed mortal.

Moments after both men groggily rose to their feet, Lesnar countered an ambitious charge by Cena into the F-5, which was reversed by Cena into the STF and then reversed yet again into the Kimura Lock, wrenching Cena’s left arm in an excruciating show of force. Showing unbelievable strength, Cena rose to his feet — while the hold was still applied — and ultimately powered out of the submission maneuver to execute a third Attitude Adjustment on his beastly foe. Cena followed up with an immediate STF in the middle of the ring, and when Lesnar refused to tap, Cena hit The Conqueror with a fourth Attitude Adjustment that, for the first time in 2014, made Lesnar very vulnerable.

As Cena seemed prime to score his 16th World Title – a number that would have tied him with two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair as the most decorated World Champion of all time – Seth Rollins stormed the ring and nailed the Cenation leader with his Money in the Bank briefcase, giving Cena the disqualification victory but, unfortunately, not the title. As the prone WWE World Heavyweight Champion slowly began to stir, still feeling the effects of Cena’s onslaught, Rollins Curb Stomped Lesnar. The Architect’s path to sports-entertainment’s grandest prize was clear: Eat. Sleep. Conquer. Retreat.

However, just as Rollins was about to capitalize on a dazed Lesnar, Cena intervened and chased off Mr. Money in the Bank, receiving an F-5 from the recovered champion for his efforts. Cena had given Lesnar the fight he promised, but it was all for naught. Thanks to Rollins, we’ll never know if Cena would have ultimately found redemption against Lesnar — a thought that no doubt plagued the Cenation leader as he recapped his bout with Lesnar in an exclusive interview on WWE.COM.  Although Night of Champions left the WWE Universe with many uncertainties, one fact remains: The Beast still rules, and he doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Night Of Champions Predictions by WWE.COM Staffs

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar Vs John Cena

Joey Styles: Brock Lesnar’s destruction of John Cena at SummerSlam was the single most lopsided World Title Match I can remember. Within the first minute of the match, Lesnar planted Cena with an F-5 and Cena never recovered. Nothing Cena hit Lesnar with could put The Beast down; not the AA, not the STF, nothing. Lesnar almost toyed with the 15-Time World Champion, bouncing the back of his head off the mat with an inhumane 16 release German suplexes. Karl Gotch, the inventor of the throw, may have been looking down from heaven feeling remorseful for his creation.

I don’t care what Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair think. I don’t care how many impassioned speeches John Cena makes about never giving up. The Brock Lesnar who returned to WWE after becoming UFC Heavyweight Champion is not the same kid who arrived in WWE after winning the NCAA heavyweight wrestling championship. He is in a class by himself. He may be unbeatable. Maybe, just maybe, someone will one day beat Brock Lesnar without having to use a steel chain, sledgehammer or steel steps, but that person will not be John Cena. WINNER: Brock Lesnar

Howard FinkelSome 30 years ago there was an individual who went into battle with the mindset of having “the eye of the tiger,” and got done what he set out to do: become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. What Hulk Hogan did that night in 1984 can be repeated by John Cena this Sunday against Brock Lesnar. As days have diminished leading to this match, I think that Cena, too, has “the eye of the tiger.” It is going to take a yeoman’s effort for Lesnar to be dethroned, but thanks, in part, to some of Paul Heyman’s diatribes, which I think got Cena riled up, I truly believe that the challenger will become the champion once again. WINNER: John Cena

Scott Taylor :John Cena never, ever gives up. The only problem is, as we saw at SummerSlam, the Cenation leader can refuse to give in and still lose. I respect the 15-time World Champion’s new, revitalized attitude, but Brock Lesnar is an once-in-a-lifetime physical specimen that can’t be stopped. It’s like Paul Heyman says: “Eat, sleep, conquer John Cena, repeat.”  WINNER: Brock Lesnar

James WortmanJohn Cena’s been on fire lately — displaying that same “Ruthless Aggression” that earned him kudos from The Undertaker back in 2002 — but facing Brock Lesnar in a WWE World Heavyweight Title rematch at this point is like leaping into a lion’s den with a sirloin strapped to your chest. Even though it’s unlikely Cena will suffer the same one-sided beating he felt at SummerSlam, look for The Beast Incarnate to come away with the victory following a suplex … or two … or 16. WINNER: Brock Lesnar

John ClappNever has there been a more fascinating World Championship rematch. Lesnar absolutely ate Cena’s lunch at SummerSlam, and you’d have to go back to Bruno Sammartino’s unseating of Buddy Rogers in 1963 to find another WWE Title Match that one-sided. The Cenation leader is famous for his toughness and his ability to withstand incredible punishment. Unfortunately for him, The Beast Incarnate doesn’t need to make someone submit to retain his title; he can knock them out just as easily. WINNER: Brock Lesnar

John Cena confronted Paul Heyman

LAFAYETTE, La. — The deal is this: John Cena wants a piece of Brock Lesnar, and if he doesn’t get it, Paul Heyman is the one who will pay the price. The Cenation leader conveyed as much during Heyman’s final missive before Night of Champions, threatening the WWE World Heavyweight Champion’s advocate with severe bodily harm should The Conqueror get cold feet. He even gave Lesnar a time frame to emerge from his lair: He had until “halftime,” or halfway through the show. The clock is on.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar confronted John Cena

It’s rare that Brock Lesnar breaks his code and fights for free. But when he does? He really, really goes for it. John Cena poked The Beast Incarnate with the sting of a thousand insults, even going so far as to threaten Paul Heyman with a beating should Lesnar refuse to answer his call. Heyman yet again attempted to goad Cena into abandoning his principles for an outright beating. Just as he did last week, Cena refused to give in to the whims of The One Behind the One in 21-1 ... until Heyman took things one step too far and caught a shove for his troubles. Right on cue, The Anomaly made his entrance and took the fight to his No. 1 contender, though he was met in such a brutal fashion by Cena that WWE security was summoned to separate the two.

Think it’s easy being John Cena? Try holding onto your spot as the top star of the world’s biggest sports-entertainment company while Wrestling Machines, Cerebral Assassins and a certain Beast Incarnate try to knock you off your perch.
The Cenation leader has been nothing if not resilient in his time as "the man" in WWE, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been pushed to his limit (or, as may be the case with Brock Lesnar, far beyond it) by a rogues gallery that enjoyed nothing more than putting that "Never give up" catchphrase to the test.
Which of Cena's rivals do we think have been his most worthy adversaries? Find out in our list that includes Triple H, Batista and, believe it or not, maybe even you.

John Cena confronted Paul Heyman

With each week that Brock Lesnar holds the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Paul Heyman’s predictions for the rematch grow more and more severe. Now, according to the mad scientist, John Cena is not simply going to be conquered, he is going to be — well, actually, the WWE Universe didn’t hear what would happen because Cena cut Heyman off. As it turned out, Heyman was there to give Cena some “inside information” on how to beat Lesnar, but Cena declined Heyman’s offer (and his attempt to goad Cena into turning on the WWE Universe). Cena instead reiterated his long-standing promise to send The Beast back from where he came and to reclaim the ultimate title in the process.

John Cena's Smackdown Speech escalated into a huge main event showdown

John Cena kicked off SmackDown with an impassioned message to the WWE Universe. At WWE Night of Champions the Cenation leader made it clear that he will get redemption when he faces Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Sept. 21.

The 15-time World Champion’s fiery speech soon produced a standoff between an all-star lineup of Superstars that WWE COO Triple H proclaimed would make for a great main event clash. As a result, it was announced that Corporate Kane, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper & Erick Rowan would battle John Cena, Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, Big Show & Mark Henry in a massive 10-Man Tag Team Match!

John Cena, Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, Big Show & Mark Henry def. Seth Rollins, Kane, Luke Harper, Bray Wyatt & Erick Rowan by Disqualification

One of the biggest main events in SmackDown history didn’t disappoint as nearly 3,000 pounds of Superstars battled to the breaking point in an explosive 10-Man Tag Team Match.

The huge showdown proved to be an evenly matched contest, but SmackDown’s squared circle just couldn’t contain these fierce foes. The match eventually devolved into chaos as the referee was forced to disqualify The Wyatt Family and their cohorts for breaking up John Cena’s STF on Seth Rollins and for refusing to stop their assault. After the dust settled, the bodies of Rollins, Corporate Kane, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper & Erick Rowan were strewn outside the ring as Cena, Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, Big Show & Mark Henry overwhelmed their villainous rivals to fight another day.

'The Highlight Reel' descended into a chaos

DES MOINES, Iowa — Happy Labor Day. Can we interest you in a complete dissolution of law and order? Chris Jericho’s planned interview with Randy Orton on “The Highlight Reel” quickly turned into a cluster of the highest caliber when the entire Authority emerged looking for trouble, only to get it when John Cena and Roman Reigns were provoked into joining the gathering moments later. Although the insults and threats flew left and right, Triple H did manage to maintain order — or at least delay the inevitable Pier-Six brawl — by orchestrating a Six-Man Tag Team main event of Cena, Jericho & Reigns vs. Orton, Seth Rollins & Kane later in the show. Not just because it's best for business, but to determine whom truly deserves to be No. 1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

John Cena,Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns defeated Kane,Randy Orton and Seth Rollins

Perhaps this display was convincing enough. Since Triple H was seemingly on the fence about John Cena remaining No. 1 contender to WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, the COO orchestrated a Six-Man Tag between his Authority henchmen and three fan favorites to determine The Beast’s best-for-business opponent.

Each man in the match acquitted himself well, particularly Randy Orton and Roman Reigns. Seth Rollins was no slouch either, working in tandem with Kane to keep Reigns at bay. Jericho nearly tapped Rollins out with the Walls of Jericho in the midst of the evening’s first six-way brawl (another would follow moments later). And Cena, of course, was the X-factor, tagging in late in the game and felling Kane with the Attitude Adjustment. The Cenation leader was so confident in his display that he allowed Reigns to finish the job with a Spear, promising Triple H face-to-face moments later that he was ready for Lesnar at Night of Champions.

A WWE Hall of Famer Forum discussed the John Cena- Brock Lesnar Rematch

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Having been brutalized by Brock Lesnar, John Cena faced, perhaps, his second-worst challenge of the past month: a grilling from a council of WWE Hall of Famers. In the midst of preparing for his rematch against The Beast Incarnate at Night of Champions, Cena was forced to listen to less-than-favorable analysis from Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels – Hulk Hogan was his lone advocate of the forum. When the Cenation leader did make his entrance , he offered a respectful but forceful rebuttal to the Hall of Famers’ hot take. When all was said and done, Cena left the Legends with a promise that he would return the beating he was given at SummerSlam.

John Cena,Big Show and Mark Henry defeated The Wyatt Family

The Wyatts do not go quietly into defeat, but when faced with the largest team on the planet and a former World Champion looking to send a message, defeat is all but inevitable. For the majority of the match, Luke Harper & Erick Rowan continued their rivalry with Big Show & Mark Henry, with the swamp giants teeing off in tandem against the two former World Heavyweight Champions.

Bray Wyatt seemed more interested in celebrating his magnificence than capitalizing after Big Show was all but dispatched, and suffered a chokeslam in response. Cena entered off Show’s tag and quickly tapped out Harper with the STF, though he had time for a few more messages. Specifically, Attitude Adjustments to each member of The Wyatt Family.

Power Rankings: 23 August 2014

John Cena is ranked 5th in this week's edition of Power Rankings.

John Cena,Stephanie McMahon, and other WWE superstars reveal their favourite games:

These folks do a lot of traveling, so it makes sense they'd be more into games they can take on the go. John Cena openly admitted that he mostly left console gaming behind after the Super Nintendo era when he used to go in on Tecmo Super Bowl.

“Tecmo Bowl the original was only eight on eight. Super was 11 on 11, kept the same field view, and had player profiles, and had kept stats. As a bit more of a sports gamer, that was the end-all-be-all.”

But what does WWE's franchise player play on the road? “Clash of Clans. I like easy to pick up and play stuff,” he said. “That's why I'm so crazy about certain apps, because they're easy to get into.”

Cena went on to talk more about what the term gamer even means. “I think anyone born in the late ‘70s, who grew up in the ‘80's...everyone from then on is a gamer, or has had an experience with games.”

He's not wrong. It's easy when you come from the enthusiast angle to consider the word “gamer” as a title you earn, or a shameful label you try to avoid, but neither of those are actually true. Would I feel comfortable calling any of the WWE Superstars I interviewed “gamers?” I can't rightfully say. I don't know if there's anyone I'd feel comfortable saddling with that classification.

What I do know is that all of them – the lawyer, the cab driver, the WWE executive (and mother of three), and this band of perpetually traveling performers – have all had memorable experience with games. What you choose to call them doesn't really matter so much as that.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar Vs John Cena at Night of Champions

Just days after losing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a brutal beatdown at the hands of Brock Lesnar, John Cena invoked his automatic rematch clause and will get his chance at a 16thWorld Title at Night of Champions.

The decision, announced by WWE COO Triple H exclusively on WWE Network during WWE Main Event, shocked the WWE Universe, still reeling after witnessing the pummeling Cena took from The Beast Incarnate at SummerSlam. The sadistic grin that spread across Lesnar’s usually stoic face — growing wider with every punch that connected with Cena’s head and body — is burned into the minds of fans around the world. The thought of Cena demanding another showdown with the vicious, seemingly unstoppable Lesnar may leave those who watched SummerSlam feeling more than a little uneasy.

Lesnar, no doubt, is happy to step in the squared circle with the Cenation leader once again. At SummerSlam, he toyed with Cena, showing the world what it takes to put the unbelievably resilient Superstar down. The One in 21-1 rained down a barrage of fists on the Cenation leader, pulverizing his insides. Lesnar tossed Cena around the ring with ease, dropping him on his head and neck with 16 German suplexes. Two F-5s — one at the start of the match and one at the end — brought Cena’s reign as champion to an end with a sickening exclamation point.

No one can question Cena’s heart. After all, he did last 20 minutes against the most devastating force to ever step foot in the ring. But heart only got Cena so far at SummerSlam. How far can it get him when he steps foot in the ring with The Beast Incarnate again at Night of Champions?

Can Cena reverse his fortunes? Or will Brock Lesnar give the WWE Universe a repeat performance of his championship victory? Find out at WWE Night of Champions, available live on WWE Network and pay-per-view Sunday Sept. 21, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Night Of Champions Update

While no Night Of Champions opponent was announced for Lesnar on last night's RAW, he's expected to defend against Cena in the main event of that pay-per-view.

Brock Lesnar Defeated John Cena to become the New WWE WORLD Heavyweight Champion

At a certain point during John Cena’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship defense against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2014, members of the WWE Universe had to ask themselves, “When does a match stop being a match and start being a televised assault?”

How many bodyshots did The Beast Incarnate have to lay into Cena’s flesh before The Champ’s insides turned to porridge? How many German suplexes did Cena have to suffer before the referee called it off? How many times did Brock have to F-5 the Cenation leader before the man finally stayed down?

We learned the answers to those questions some 20 minutes into the most one-sided beating of Cena’s WWE career. Two F-5’s, countless punches thrown with bad intentions, and 16 — yes, 16 — German suplexes were rained down upon The Champ by the most dominant force WWE has ever seen before The Beast Incarnate accomplished what he returned to WWE to accomplish: Become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

If Cena had a game plan going into this defense, it was to get at Brock before Brock got at him. It took guts to charge at Lesnar the way the Cenation leader did at the opening bell, but what could he possibly do? Outwrestle a former NCCA Champion? Outpunch a former UFC Champion? Barely 30 seconds into the bout, Lesnar had battled Cena back and hit him with an F-5. Our hero managed to muscle out at two, but he was barely in the fight from there.

Lesnar has always been filled with the type of unspeakable confidence that only comes with being a world-class athlete. Snapping The Undertaker’s Streak elevated him to the status of a demigod. Omnipotence was written all over him as he brutalized Cena with the maniacal glee of a cartoon supervillain. He’d stalk his prey, rain verbal abuse down on him and then toss him across the ring like a bag of dirty clothes. Lesnar savored the cruelty the way most men enjoy a cold beer.

At first, the crowd almost enjoyed it. It’s natural for 15,000 people to shift into the type of ravenous spectators that once filled Roman coliseums. Then, the mistreatment began to mount. An endless series of German suplexes wreaked havoc on Cena’s neck. Punching sessions seemed to last forever. At one point, Brock stood on The Champ’s fingers for at least 15 seconds, smiling down on his victim as all 286 pounds of him buckled tendon and bone.

If Cena had anything going for him, it was heart. But what good is heart against the heartless?

There were exactly two moments of hope for Cena in this bout. The first came when The Champ connected with a flurry of devastating elbows to Lesnar’s head and then reversed an attempted F-5 into a successful Attitude Adjustment. For two seconds, you almost thought The Champ had done it again. A half second later, Brock’s shoulder was up. Then, Lesnar hinged at the waist and rose up like The Undertaker with a demented smile on his face. Brock was mocking The Champ, The Deadman and the WWE Universe all at once, and having the time of his life while doing it.

When Cena’s second opportunity arrived, it was already too late. Brock — by now behaving like a Bond baddie with the amount of time he was taking to punish his target — had taken his attention off the WWE World Heavyweight Champion for a moment, allowing Cena to slickly apply the STF. The man put everything he had left into the maneuver, but Lesnar powered out of it and went right back to pounding the living daylights out of his opponent. From there, he yanked Cena up, threw him into a fireman’s carry and executed the decisive F-5.

Where was The Champ’s rally? The Five Knuckle Shuffle? That knowing grin he loves to throw the WWE Universe as if to say, “Yeah, I got this one”? They weren’t on display at the STAPLES Center. The only thing that was there was a monster with a black heart and two championship titles in his death grip.

For much of the match, the voice of a lone child could be heard chanting, “Let’s go, Cena!” By the time Brock Lesnar’s hand was raised in victory, the kid had fallen silent. Dreams had been dashed. Hopes had been crushed. And a Beast had become king.

SummerSlam 2014 Predictions by WWE.COM Staffs

@JoeyStylesIt’s hard to pick against John Cena in any match because of his 15 World Championships. However, I don’t think people fully realize how impressive Brock Lesnar’s conquests are when Paul Heyman boasts about them week after week. Since returning to WWE, Lesnar has only been defeated when knocked cold by a steel chain or steel steps. Unless the rules of this match change or Cena manages to hit Lesnar with his car without the referee seeing it, the man who conquered The Undertaker’s WrestleMania Streak will defeat John Cena for his fourth WWE Championship. WINNER: Brock Lesnar

@HowardFinkelMake no mistake about it: Brock Lesnar is The Beast Incarnate and John Cena is not WWE World Heavyweight Champion via a fluke! At the beginning of this week, I felt Lesnar was going to reach the top of that championship mountain this Sunday. However, Cena’s impassioned and emotional message that he delivered last Monday on Raw swayed my thinking anew. Now I truly believe that Cena will dig down deep and find a way to outlast the grizzled Lesnar. Truth be told, it’s all or nothing for Cena in a few short days! WINNER: John Cena

Ryan Murphy: Most folks will be eyeballing this one with the same heart-in-your-gullet anticipation you get while watching a video of a gazelle lowering its head to take a drink of croc-infested water. I hesitate to assume that John Cena will be the gazelle in this scenario — the guy has beaten Brock Lesnar before — but I’ve watched enough Animal Planet to know how this is gonna turn out.WINNER: Brock Lesnar

James Wortman: This one’s gonna be ugly. Becoming even more of a force of nature after snapping The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania 30, Brock Lesnar won’t rest until he has pried the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from the mangled form of John Cena at SummerSlam. Not even The Champ’s unparalleled passion and dedication to the WWE Universe will save him from the horrors that await Sunday. Paul Heyman’s right: WWE is Brock’s house now, and Cena’s about to be shown the door. WINNER: Brock Lesnar

John Clapp: I believe Paul Heyman when he says John Cena will endure an unworldly beating at the hands of The Anomaly Sunday. But lose the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? To Brock Lesnar, a guy to whom the title is less about representing WWE and more about a bigger payday? I think not. The Champ is fighting for preservation, and I can’t reasonably foresee a scenario in which he gets pinned or made to submit, even by the baddest ass-kicker on the planet. WINNER: John Cena

Brock Lesnar: 3, John Cena: 2

WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena Called out Brock Lesnar

As always, John Cena hears everything that is said about him. He’s heard the cheers, he’s heard the boos, and, most recently, he’s heard the rhetoric from Paul Heyman promising his demise at SummerSlam. So, Cena decided to take the initiative and challenge Brock Lesnar to a fight six days before he unleashes his own inner beast at SummerSlam. Of course, given that Brock Lesnar does not fight for free, The Champ’s words fell on deaf ears, so Cena was left to give a promise of his own: That, at SummerSlam, he would “conquer The Conqueror.”

Editor's Choice: Who has the best arsenal in WWE?

John Cena

-Attitude Adjustment
-Belly-to-back suplex
-Dropkick
-Top rope leg drop bulldog
-STF

Don’t you get it by now? John Cena knows exactly what he’s doing. The guy’s been around the block. He is well aware the so-called “Five Moves of Doom” won’t be making him an Internet darling anytime soon. He knows he can’t somersault like Van Dam, or fly around like Bryan, but what John Cena can do is win.

Cultivating an arsenal that inflicts as much damage on his opponent as possible with minimal risk to his own well-being, John Cena has developed a unique and underrated style that has kept him mostly off the shelf and constantly with his arm raised. Sure, the Attitude Adjustment might not be a 450 Splash, but it certainly gets the job done. And it’s a move that only John Cena can do to victims ranging from Rey Mysterio to Big Show.

John Cena knows what’s expected of him. And his brilliance isn’t in winning 8-year-olds’ hearts with wristbands and million-dollar smiles — his brilliance is in the ring, where he can be as unpredictable as Seth Rollins and as powerful as Cesaro. Watch as he hoists the largest of competitors off the mat for a belly-to-back suplex. Or, as superheavyweights brace themselves for more of John Cena’s muscle, the way he counters with a dropkick, or a hurricanrana, or even goes up to the turnbuckles to unleash something a bit more high-risk.

I recently asked John Cena if he’s felt the need to curb his style to avoid injury.

“If you broke down my technique, it wouldn’t really take a rocket scientist to do so,” he told me. “I don’t how you would take something so basic and do less.”

Sure, John Cena wants us all to believe he’s basic, though he’s anything but. John Cena’s a winner. And that’s all that matters. — ZACH LINDER

Back to the future: What would superstars change if they could?

WWE history is filled with iconic events that changed the tide of sports-entertainment forever. But what if one moment in time was different? What if a Superstar lost a career-defining match instead of won? What if someone said no when they should have said yes?

WWE.com asked eight WWE Superstars to name a time in their careers where a different outcome would have changed everything. From Daniel Bryan’s first decision as an aspiring Superstar to the biggest match of Dolph Ziggler’s career, these are the moments that made all the difference.

John Cena

"I’m OK with ups and downs. They make you a better person overall. I’ve lived by the philosophy, ’Don’t regret anything, be accountable for your own decisions, your success and your failures and learn from every one of them.’ I wouldn’t change any matches or outcomes. I don’t take any opportunity lightly.”

Hulk Hogan talks about John Cena

Hulk Hogan recently joined Doug Mortman and Dave Lagreca on Busted Open. Here is what Hogan said about John Cena.

Hulk Hogan talks about John Cena and Brock Lesnar:

"Well Brock is a phenom. His credibility is over the top, but you got to realize John Cena is the man. He's the foundation of the whole company. He's the guy that they bet on and his attitude is he loves the company. He loves being on the road, he's got wrestling in his blood. And for him to be so graceful when he's tired and there's no sleep, no food and these Make-A-Wish kids come to him even for 5 minutes, he'll spend a whole day with them. His priorities are in order. No matter what whether he wins or loses he's still the man. To me, I've been around for a long time and I've done a lot to help this business, but it fails in comparison to what John Cena has done. In my opinion, John Cena is the greatest WWE champion of all time. If Brock Lesnar was to beat him, creative storyline wise yeah you have something there. I hope he knows he's got huge shoes to fill. I don't think Cena's going anywhere. I may go out there and hit Brock with a chair just so he doesn't win."

John Cena behind the scenes:

"There's more to this business than just winning the belt. This is a business. Cena is relentless. He'll go to meetings, he'll meet Wal Mart owners, shareholders I mean this guy knows what it takes to generate revenue. He can talk to anybody whether it be 4,000 shareholders, New York Stock Exchange, a group of women with breast cancer, he knows how to handle himself and he understands emotions and that's why he's my man."

Paul Heyman confronted WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena

HOUSTON – John Cena has a problem, and that problem goes by the name of Brock Lesnar. With The Beast Incarnate named the No. 1 contender to Cena’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship and The Champ is staring down “the beating of a lifetime," Cena broke his silence to the WWE Universe and addressed the seriousness of the coming match, though he promised to defeat The Anomaly when all was said and done.

Paul Heyman, of course, was not about to let the opportunity to one-up Cena pass by, but the mad scientist’s mouth seemed set to get him into some hot water before long. Enter Cesaro. Despite no longer being a Paul Heyman Guy, The Swiss Superman took issue with Cena’s treatment of his “friend” and challenged The Champ on behalf of his former advocate, who accepted the gesture with grace and … friendship? Who knew.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena def. Cesaro

He probably shouldn’t have insulted the shoes. Cesaro’s strong words for John Cena turned to fighting words in Raw’s opening moments, and The Champ wasted no time disproving Cesaro’s claim that he couldn’t wrestle, breaking out a pair of hip tosses, a headlock, a hurricanrana and a monkey flip for the sold-out Toyota Center crowd in the first five minutes of their match.

Cesaro took pointed advantage of Cena’s unusual display of showmanship in the rematch of their instant classic from February, using his own grappling to force The Champ into Ruthless Aggression mode. The King of Swing stayed alive with pure strength, unleashing a 10-rotation Cesaro Swing and clobbering The Champ with the Very European Uppercut, but a last burst of energy won The Champ the day when he jettisoned Cesaro off the top turnbuckle for a super-Attitude Adjustment and 1-2-3.

POWER RANKINGS: JULY 26, 2014

John Cena remains at the No.1 spot in this week's edition of the Power Rankings.

What entrance themes do superstars wish they had?

Entrance envy. It happens. Even the Superstars who have the most identifiable themes in all of WWE — the John Cenas, Randy Ortons and Daniel Bryans of the world — have personal favorite songs that they’d consider entering the ring to.

Don’t believe us? Well, we’ve got proof: WWE.com asked 10 Superstars and Divas whose entrance music other than their own they’d like to have. Then, just for fun, we edited videos showing how it might look if, for example, AJ Lee skipped into action to the sound of … well, read on and you’ll see!

John Cena chose Ric Flair's entrance

There’s obviously a great deal of mutual respect between the all-time record-holder for World Title reigns, Ric Flair (16 reigns), and the runner-up, John Cena (15). But The Champ’s admiration for The Nature Boy extends well beyond Flair’s incredible accolades. According to the Cenation leader, if he could pick anyone else’s song, it’d be Flair’s theme, Richard Strauss’ “Also Sprach Zarasthura,” which was made famous by the 1968 Stanley Kubrick sci-fi classic, “2001: A Space Odyssey.”

Cena’s rationale for wanting the song was straight and to the point: “Watch the movie.”
